Black and White: Something New

I don't like to come on here trying to drop knowledge on you all. I know I can't stand when people come around me philosophizing (that isn't a real world.. but no one asked you!). I don't want this post to sound like I'm on some campaign or something either! I'm simply discussing.. that's what I do here sometimes.

Anyways.. interracial dating! (Now watch all the sistah souljah's  and black panthers exit the page. BYE!) I think of interracial dating as .. regular dating because the color of your skin NEVER made you dateable or not.

I been Mrs. Timberlake and even went so far as to somehow obtain Zac Efron's phone number (dont ask how. And I DID call but freaked out and hung up when he picked up. lol I WAS SHAKING!) and never saw a problem with it.

There are some folks out there hooting and hollering about interracial couples. Like.. are you serious? What are we ?? Friggin slaves!? Let it go and let love flow.

This was brought on by the thang hitting my phone (don't ask lol). After a longgg conversation with his delcious self .. I carried on with my night and then, just as I crawled into my bed to go to sleep, I peeped that Something New was on! I LOVEEE Something New (The movie with Sanaa Lathan and she's set up on a blind date with Brian, a white landscaping architect, and she storms out of the coffee shop mad that her friend hooked her up with the white man.) I was appauled at Kenya's (They would give her such an ethnic name...theatrical purposes.) behavior. One, Brian is delicious! Two, he was a total gentleman. Three, he peeped her whole swag complimenting the girl with the dreads and looking all longingly at the black couples around.. tryna be down. lol Anyways, eveytime I watch this movie I'm shocked at her behavior and then I realize there are people today that would behave the same way she did.

Then this morning I heard my mom playing ms. relationship guru to (basically) a cousin of mine, who (from what I gathered eaves dropping) met some italian thang (like my little blue eyed charcter) and was considering not letting him take her out because he's white (and successful with a great job, and a nice car..silly girl!). Ma cleared her foolishness up real quick and encouraged her to go. "Never mind color, if he treats you right you do what you have to do."
WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M SAYING!!!

A person's race or ethnicity should not, in any way shape or form, impact you're decision on letting that person into your life. Just like in the movie, Kenya was being encouraged to be open to new things. If we limit ourselves to one specific thing there are plenty of oppurtunities and relationships we'll be missing out on. How do YOU know your soul mate isn't Italian!? or Mexican? Or German!?.. You DON'T know. So if Mr. German comes along and he's cool aside from being german why would you put him in the undateable category!? Exactly..NO REASON! So don't do it. Be open. Don't discrimihate!

Anyways, here's a clip from the movie.
I would roll Simon Baker up in a pita wrap and sprinkle cheese and guac on him.. like.. was she serious rushing out of that date!?! That man is beautiful.
